The Medical Experts Committees (MECs) advise Avant on accepted medical practice and medical issues relating to claims. The MECs include a core committee that is supported by a panel of experts. Each core committee has five members representing the key medical practice areas which are defined by the frequency of claims and the significance of risk exposure. Most MEC members are practising doctors who have their fingers on the pulse of key medical issues and understand the pressures facing today’s doctors. The panel of experts reflects those specialties not represented by members on the core committee.
