The Chairman of Avant Mutual, Dr Stuart Boland and Deputy Chairman Dr Jonathan Burdon were re-elected by a clear majority of members at Avant’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday.
“I am very proud that our strategic direction has been overwhelmingly endorsed, and Jonathan and I look forward to continuing working to the best of our ability for our 57,000 members,” said Stuart Boland.
“It is an amazing time to be part of Australia’s leading and largest medical defence organisation, with record membership levels, a strong balance sheet, and exciting developments such as the planned completion of the acquisition of the Doctors’ Health Fund in the first half of 2012.”
Stuart Boland also announced that Avant’s innovative Loyalty Reward Plan would reward eligible members for their loyalty again in 2012, with deductions from premiums between 5.5% and 11.0%.
“It’s very pleasing to be in the position of being able to reward eligible members for their loyalty for the second successive year,” said Stuart Boland.
“My commitment is to keep enhancing the services for our loyal members, while continuing the strong financial position Avant has worked hard to achieve,” he said.
Stuart Boland has been Chairman of Avant since its formation in 2007. He is a former President of the NSW AMA and was awarded the Fellowship of the AMA for outstanding service.
Jonathan Burdon has been Deputy Chairman of Avant Mutual Group over the same period. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Medical Indemnity Industry Association of Australia and a former President of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
