Sexual boundaries: Guidelines for doctors

The Medical Board of Australia confirms it is unethical and unprofessional for a doctor to enter into a sexual relationship with a patient, and highlights that it may also be unethical for a doctor to enter into a sexual relationship with a former patient, a patient’s carer or a close relative of a patient, if this breaches the trust the patient placed in the doctor. Review the new guidelines.
