Medico-legal advice and support is a key element of Avant's member benefits and is the primary function of the Medico-legal Advisory Service (MLAS). This support and advice is provided through a variety of means - including by phone, letter, fax or email or by an interview at Avant's offices.
The MLAS receives an average of 10,000 calls each year. We also provide an average of 250-300 formal written advices on health law issues to members each year.
A full service is available to members across Australia during Avant's standard office hours (8.30 am to 5.30 pm AEST/AEDT).
Importantly for members who need urgent medico-legal advice after hours, highly experienced medico-legal advisors are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year.
