Risk Education

The Avant Risk Education Program aims to help participants make practical change to reduce their clinical risk. Sessions allow time for reflective thought, opportunities to discuss clinical risk with colleagues and the setting of action plans to translate learning to practical situations.

Topics include:

  • Missed and Delayed Diagnosis
  • Informed Consent
  • Emerging Risk
  • Open Disclosure

The above sessions are accredited for continuing professional development points with relevant medical colleges. Scheduled sessions will be notified via the online events calendar.

Some of Avant's other education programs are outlined below.

Modular Program for International Medical Graduates (IMGs)

This program is accredited for CPD and assists organisations with supervisory responsibilities for IMGs to optimise outcomes for IMGs and their patients. The program can be delivered onsite as a full day training program, or via videoconference in modular format. Modules comprise four 90 minute sessions and cover:

- Essentials of the Australian Healthcare System

- Common High Risk Clinical Situations and How to Minimise Risk

- Living and Working in Australian Hospitals: Cultural Challenges

General Practice Registrar Training Program

Avant has developed a series of medico-legal workshops designed to be delivered via teleconference to assist GP Registrars and GPs in rural and remote areas.
