Avant Law has been awarded the international award for ‘Best Medical
Defence Services – Australia’ for the second year running.
Pamela Michael, Head of Avant Law, National Legal Director has been awarded
the Corporate LiveWire Innovation & Excellence Awards 2018 title for the
second year in a row. She was the only winner in the medico-legal sector in
Australia, and noted for her role in transforming the industry and being a
standard bearer of excellence and innovation.
John Hart, a spokesman for Corporate LiveWire, said it was ‘genuinely
rare that we pick companies in successive years’.
More than 100,000 businesses and corporate professionals are nominated
each year for excelling in their respective industry, in the UK based global awards.
Avant Law, which is the largest specialist medico-legal law firm in
Australia, won a number of major awards last year. It is unique in being wholly
owned by a medical defence organisation, serving only Avant members and forming
part of Avant’s wider multi-disciplinary defence team.

Magazine Global Awards 2016 which celebrate achievement, innovation and
brilliance, when Avant was awarded ‘Law Firm of the Year (Medical Indemnity
was also recognised as ‘Australia Gamechanger of the Year’ in the medical
indemnity insurance category.
Pamela was named ‘Most Influential Woman in Medical Defence Services –
Australia’ at the Women in Wealth Awards 2017 and ‘Best Medical Defence
Business Leader 2017 - New South Wales & Most Acclaimed Medical Indemnity
Insurance Provider – Australia’ at the Influential Businesswoman Awards
Pamela’s string of awards also includes ‘Best Medical Indemnity
Insurance Specialist – Australia’ at the Women in Wealth Awards 2016, ‘Best
Doctor Defence Lawyer 2016 – New South Wales’ at the Businesswoman Awards 2016,
and an ‘Award for Excellence in Medical Indemnity Insurance 2016 – New South
Wales’ at the Businesswoman Awards last year.
As Head of Avant Law, National Legal Director, Pamela has eight years’ experience at Avant. In addition to her
Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) Pamela holds a BHSc (Nursing) and a Postgraduate
Certificate of Management from the Macquarie University Graduate School of
Management in Sydney.
